Dental Implants | ||
|
Dental implants have become a routine part of restorative dentistry. Nearly 40 years ago, Dr. Branemark discovered that titanium could be in the jaws to replace tooth roots. Today, we can replace one tooth, or an entire set of teeth using these implants. Implants provide stability that is greater than natural teeth. Although the complete process takes several months, the results can last an entire lifetime. People with aggressive osteoporosis are not the best candidates for implants. In addition, people with medical problems that make surgery difficult don't usually get implants. For most other people, implants provide an excellent, long lasting and cosmetic replacement for natural teeth. Our office uses Dr. Hank Zussman to place the implants. He is a very well respected oral surgeon, has a great deal of experience and has several locations in Fairfax County. He and I have established protocols to insure sucessful implant placement. In addition, we have laboratories with special implant training. This means that we can have beautiful restorations that function like real teeth. It also means that the laboratories can make the restorations fit to very tight tolerances so that the restoration will last a very long time. |
